Recovering and healing from the scandals that overshadowed other successes of our district is paramount. I believe that we're heading in the right direction with new leadership that, at present, has my support.
Our District’s Challenges
Over the past four years, our school district has faced significant challenges that have tested our community’s trust. As a current school board member, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of decisions that prioritized protecting reputations over safeguarding our students and fostering openness.
A lack of transparency has left parents and families feeling unheard, particularly when it came to addressing serious incidents of student assaults. The abrupt departure of our former superintendent, following allegations of mishandling these incidents, exposed a critical need for accountability at the highest levels. These events were compounded by a board majority that often resisted open dialogue, making it harder to rebuild trust and ensure our schools are safe for every child.
I am committed to confronting these challenges head-on. We need clear policies to protect students, rigorous oversight to prevent future failures, and a culture of transparency that invites parents and community members into the decision-making process. With a new superintendent in place, we have an opportunity to reset and prioritize student safety and trust. My role on the board is to push for these changes, ensuring our district learns from the past and builds a stronger, safer future for all our students.
